The Ventura Film Festival serves as an all-inclusive international cinema festival that cultivates understanding of ecological concerns including forest and sea protection and rehabilitation, through a yearly film festival and related events. The event capitalizes on the strength of cinema to promote activism and establish purposeful communication concerning these vital environmental matters.

The Ventura Film Festival was founded in 2004 and has screened hundreds of films, usually over 200 films each summer, and has generated excitement within the international cinematic community. From its beginning, the festival has developed into an important cultural gathering that connects film artists, environmental champions, and spectators from every corner of the planet.

Memorable occasions have featured showcasing renowned filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the first ever world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend along with Ian Cairns, 4x world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA combatant Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50-year anniversary of West Side Story, which included hosting the complete Oscar-winning ensemble of West Side Story, featuring Academy Award honoree/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris as well as Golden Globe winner/Academy Award nominated Russ Tamblyn. These outstanding figures and gatherings have reinforced the festival's recognition as a top-tier venue for celebrating cinema and the talents who make it.

The Ventura Film Festival creator and executive director was privileged to participate, along with many of Hollywood's top stars, in the 50th Anniversary of West Side Story and Hollywood's iconic footprint/handprint ceremony celebrating Oscar winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, together with Golden Globe champion Russ Tamblyn at the iconic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This occasion also served as the official BluRay introduction by Fox and MGM of the iconic West Side Story, which is commonly viewed by critics and fans as the greatest musical of all time.
